Time Expressed as Distance

Depends what kind of event you are describing I suppose but for normal day to day purposes, 1.8 minutes is not a long time.  It sounds daft to say that something is 1.8 minutes old so in this case, in order to demonstrate how fresh my fruits of the sea are, I shall express their age in metres.

These soon to be devoured crabs are one thousand five hundred metres old.  That's the distance they travelled at 50kms/hr in my Jeep from where they were caught to my table.  I'll need to steam them for about 10 kms.

And now for some gratuitous fluffiness:

Rocky.  Much healthier than when I found him and twice the size.  Poor old Charlie is so patient.

    1. I had a word with him and he says London is OK so long as you have a nicely manicured lawn for him to dig holes in.

  7. Rocky looks positively...beagle-ish. Heavens, are there stray beagles running around Angola? He's adorable and poor old Charlie is such a good dog to put up with a such a silly little puppy. The crabs are nice, but fluffy is forever.

    1. He'll grow to be the same size and shape as Charlie (who is most likely his father).

  8. I agree, Rocky does have a very beagle-ish head. He looks cute but the puppy stage can be very trying. All that lovely fresh seafood must be great compensation for living there.

    1. He's alright. We just need to get him house trained. He's nearly there but we still get the odd surprise!

  9. Nothing wrong with fluff, we all could use some good fluff to forget all horrible shit going on in the world. Does DHL ship fluffy puppies to USA?

    1. I take your point. Sadly, DHL will only ship puppies if they are stuffed.

  10. Nice strainer, I assume it is stainless. I like to wear those from time to time on my head to keep the NSA from reading my thoughts. The confusion and randomness could detract from cell phone monitoring.
And I'm also afraid of extraterrestrials.

    1. No wonder you yanks are bloody barmy. You have to wear TWO! They should be separated by a distance determined by the wavelength the NSA use. They should also be earthed which is why you should wear aluminium foil underwear (aluminum isn't as good since it lacks Iodine) connected by a cable to nails in the soles of your boots.

    1. Awful thing to say, I know, but actually I am quite bored with sea food! I can't eat plain old steamed lobster, I tend to chop the meat up and make a curry out of it.

  13. That pup is so cute! I take it that you are keeping him? Does he have a nice temperament?

    1. Yes, I'll be keeping him. He's a really playful little thing. He likes nothing more than rooting through the laundry bin and dragging knickers out onto the garden or sneaking up on me while I am typing and sinking his needle like teeth into my ankle or pulling paperwork out of my bookcase and shredding it.

    1. Blimey, you must be a riot at dinner parties, I had to look this one up. If ever I am stuck for information on obscure American animated TV shows of the late fifties early sixties, I now know who to ask!
