Logic

I caught four year old Alex watching TV after I had told him to brush his teeth.

'Alex!  I thought I told you to go and brush your teeth?  Right, that's it!  No more Ben 10 for you until you brush your teeth!'

Wasting as little effort as possible, he changed channels.

'Alex!  Go and brush your teeth!'

'But I'm not watching Ben 10, Daddy...'

  1. He's like a genie, you have to be very, very specific with requests or instructions....

    1. More like the monkey's paw. Have to be careful what you ask for and he always has his in the cookie jar...

    1. From his mother, clearly. I was forever being dashed on the unforgiving rocks of feminine logic.

  3. You have a television?

That surprised me; that your boy outsmarted you didn't!!!

  5. I hope I can remember this if either of mine try that line. I will have to think of a good reply now.

    1. Actually, here it is rather easy. One just throws the generator switch and waits for the boy to come and complain.

  6. Was it Newton? "The Apple doesn't fall far from the Tree." Don't believe a word of it. What if there is a storm? Flinging you far away. Like in Schleswig-Holstein. And no, Tom, do not jump to wrong conclusion. During my teenage years you and I were practically neighbours - my Bodensee to your Schwarzwaelder Torte. Did we meet? Say, in Freiburg? If we did - it was my pleasure. At least you will have been still intact.

Yes, one of the apples of your eye (the other being Dominic). Clever. Wherever Alex fell he most certainly didn't on his head. Now there is a challenge for you.

    1. Actually, I think we did meet. Not in Freiburg but very close. On Titisee where, if I recall correctly, I rowed your boat...

  7. Reminds me of... 'Daddy I got punished at school today for something I didn't do'!

    'What was that son?'

    'My homework!'

  8. With logic like that, I foresee a successful legal career for your young Alex. (And, with a daddy like he has, he should be able to make a nice living with it... ;-D)

  9. I've got all this to come. As it is I say "no Evalyn" she hesitates for a second, looks at me, smiles, then does it anyway!

Please feel free to comment, good or bad. I will allow anything that isn't truly offensive to any other commentator. Me? You can slag me without mercy but try and be witty while you are about it.
