(im)patience

Oh Daddy! When are we going to get to the Hippo?

Which Hippo son?

The Hippo, the Hippo in the story!

Patience my boy, there’s plenty of time. The Hippo comes near the end.

Well let’s go straight to the end then!

Why do you want to wish the story away? Aren’t you enjoying it?

Yes, but we can always go back.

That, son, is something we can never do.

  1. No, we can't ever go back, however much we might wish to. Lessons in life are free, if only we care to learn them: life is a journey, you don't know when you will have to get off the ride, and if you worry too much about the destination you will miss the best bits of the journey. 2. I have been away on leave and have only just returned so sorry for failing to acknowledge your nice comment in good time. Blanket Stacker, eh? Is that when it was rag and oil or the new mob?
