La Guerre Oublié

Luanda, 1994

There were times when I wondered what the hell I was doing here. Tired, disillusioned, all I wanted to do was go home.

Then a Frenchman, Jean Charles Gutner took this photo and gave it to me. Every time I felt ready to give up in despair, I would look at the photo and I would remember what it was I had to do. Keep going. I was only one of countless thousands that all over the world give of themselves in an attempt to stop the further suffering of innocents like this tragic little boy.

"It is amazing what reserves you can call on if you only know how to dig deep enough."

  1. I've just been reading over all you blog posts and find them very interesting. Keep up the good work - you have at least one reader now.

By the way, your writing on the expat lifestyle is somewhat comical to those of us who are former expats (or expat's sons). Take a look at my website and you'll see what I mean.

  2. Had a look, I have placed a link to your site on my blog and will be reading it regularly, there is a lot there so might take me a while!

'Gerrard Winstanley ...... published a pamphlet (Truth Lifting Its Head Up Above Scandals)'

You wouldn't have the text to this pamphlet?

  3. I'm pretty sure that I've read the text once in a library, but I don't have it and a quick online search revealed nothing. I'll let you know if I find it, though.

Please feel free to comment, good or bad. I will allow anything that isn't truly offensive to any other commentator. Me? You can slag me without mercy but try and be witty while you are about it.
